Early 103 Piece Set of Arne Jacobsen for Anton Michelsen Flatware, 1965 Stainless steel, with markings. Very good to excellent condition. Complete canteen service for eight also includes two large salad spoons, large salad fork, 4 extra teaspoons, 4 extra fish forks, 4 extra steak knives, 2 appetizer forks, 9 demitasse spoons and a left handed spoon and two extra dinner forks. Original mahogany storage trays and locking box. Arne Jacobsen designed this ultra modern flatware in 1957 for the restaurant of the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen which was opened in 1958. The design remained so extremely modern after almost half a century that it was modern enough to be used in Stanley Kubrick science fiction film: A Space Odyssey. This service contains 77 pcs (serves eight) is from the first manufacturer Anton Michelsen, it was purchased by the first owner in the 1969.
